Owner Occupancy Cards
We have just sent out our latest batch of owner occupancy cards. They are pink and white and roughly post card size. Their purpose is to determine whether or not the property described on the card is owner occupied, a rental, or if it is being put to some other use. If the parcel is owner occupied, check that box and return the card. It will ensure the parcel gets the highest possible tax cap. If it is a rental, check that box and return the card. A rental affidavit will be sent to you to see if your rent complies with HUD standards. Complete the rental affidavit and return it and you may be entitled to the maximum tax cap if your rent is at or less than HUD Standards. If the property is put to another use, check other and put a brief explanation. For example, perhaps it is vacant or a family member lives there, or it is a vacation home. The card, once it is returned to the office helps us to ensure you get the lowest tax bill allowable under the law. If you do not return the card at all, you still will receive a tax cap, but it may not be all you are entitled to under the law for your circumstances. Additionally, until a card is returned, we have to keep sending them, so if you return them we can make them of record and will have no further reason to inconvenience you. If you have anyquestions, please let us know!
