We want to let the taxpayers who operate businesses or ranches and who declare their personal property every year that we will be mailing the Personal Property tax bills out very soon. Watch for them in your mail. If you have any questions, please contact our office and speak with Julie Carl, who handles the business personal property, or Julie Eaklor, who handles the ranch personal property. All payments should be made in the Elko County Treasurers office.
Unfortunately, we have news about the Senior Citizens Tax Rebate program which is funded through the state of Nevada. This year, due to the budget shortfall the state is currently experiencing, the program has been suspended. Those of you who have signed up in the past will not receive an application in the mail for this year as you normally would. And those of you who wished to sign up for the program for the first time will not be able to sign up as the state has not sent us applications for first time participants. We are very sorry to have such bad news for our seniors in Elko County. We have been assured that the program will be re-instituded as soon as the legislature can find the money to fund it.
