By the way, just as a reminder, all taxes are now paid in the Elko County Treasurer's office, and all vehicle registrations are handled at the Department of Motor Vehicles office at 3920 Idaho St. here in Elko.

Valuation Notices & Owner Occupancy Cards

Very soon those of you who have received a change in assessed values will receive your valuation notices.  If you have questions about what is contained in your notice, be sure to call us.  We'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.  It is a good idea to go over your assessments every few years as a matter of course.  If after reviewing your assessment with our staff you wish to get on the agenda of the County Board of Equalization to appeal your values, you will need to have your paperwork in to our office by January 15th.  The Board will meet in the middle of February.

In the next month or so we will also be mailing out Owner Occupancy Cards to new home owners in our county.  These cards must be completed and returned to this office so that home owners who have their primary residence here can receive the maximum tax cap for the upcoming tax years.  Owners of rentals must also complete these cards so that a rental affidavit can be mailed to them.  Those owners who have rentals which are in compliance with HUD rent criteria will also receive the maximum the maximum tax cap for those buildings as well.
