This is such an exciting time for us in the Assessor's office when we can say the tax roll is complete and and we can all take a bit of a breather mentally and settle in to enjoying the holidays! Whew! This year has been fraught with challenge as we have gone to a new operating system and we are still in the process of fine tuning everything to make sure it works properly.
Nevada has a very complex tax structure when it comes to property taxes, so adjustments to the new operating system were necessary. Valuation notices are being mailed to those parcel owners who have had their values change. If you see anything that does not appear to be correct, please call at 775-738-5217 and we will be happy to have the appraiser who did the assessment work look at your parcel and make sure it is correct or if it is not correct, to make any needed changes. It's never a bad idea to review your assessment just as a matter of course.
For those of you who would like to look at the tax roll, it will be published on our website for Elko County. We are working on making it available in various formats to those who wish to purchase the tax roll and as soon as that work is completed we will publish a notice on our blog.
Many of you who routinely use our website in your work have noticed it has changed. Very recently our priority had to be on the tax roll and statutory deadlines, so the website still has issues that we will be working on. We appreciate your patience and forbearance! As always, if you have any questions about the website, or something doesn't look quite right to you, please call us at 775-738-5217 and we will do our best to get you the information that you need.
All of us here in the Assessor's Office hope you are enjoying the holiday season, and we wish you a very happy, healthy, prosperous 2020 year!
Welcome to the Elko County Assessor's Blog! In it you will find information that will be useful to you regarding seasonal activities of the office and the various programs which are available through our office. Be sure to check back from time to time so that you can be aware of information which will help you! Questions? Be sure to give us a call at 775-738-5217.
By the way, just as a reminder, all taxes are now paid in the Elko County Treasurer's office, and all vehicle registrations are handled at the Department of Motor Vehicles office at 3920 Idaho St. here in Elko.

The Taxroll for the 2017-18 Year is Available on our Website
Happy New Year! We hope 2017 will be a year full of prosperity and health for you and your family!
Our tax roll for the upcoming 2017-18 tax year is available on our website for anyone who wishes to check it out. There are also copies available in our office if anyone would like to have one. The tax roll no longer is printed in the paper due to a legislative change that allows Assessor's offices throughout the state to save the thousands of dollars it takes to print the tax roll, and to get the information out through the use of technology.
As always, anyone wishing to be scheduled for the Board Of Equalization to protest their values will need to have their applications in by January 16th. The hearing will take place in mid-February. The date for the hearing will be posted later.
If there are any questions, please be sure to contact us at 775-738-5217 or assessor@elkocountynv.net and we will be happy to help you!

Closing the tax roll!!!
We would like to remind everyone that this time of year, as we approach the end of the calendar year, it is an especially busy time for the Assessor's office as it is time to prepare to close the tax roll. We ask your patience if you should happen to be connected to voice mail, and we will do our best to get back to you as quickly as we can. We hope to be closing the roll either just before or just after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Shortly thereafter, you will receive your valuation notices if you have had a change in assessed value since last year. If you have any questions about the valuation notice, please be sure to contact us and we will do our best to explain what has caused the change to value. For those of you who may wish to file to appear before the Board of Equalization regarding you values, you must have the completed form either returned to us, or post marked by January 15th of 2011. Questions? Give us a call and we'll do our best to answer them!
