Something New for our Exemption Holders!

This year we will be implementing a new plan for those taxpayers who use their exemptions at the Department of Motor Vehicles.  When you return the blue and white exemption renewal card, you will not receive a paper pink and white voucher to take to DMV when registering your vehicle as in past years.  Instead you will receive a permanent card, that will have your name, and your exemption number on it, as well as contact information for the Department of Motor Vehicles.  This is all you will need to  have with you at DMV from this point forward.  Also, you can now use your exemption when renewing registrations on line or at the DMV kiosks in town.  Be sure you have your card handy when renewing on line or at a kiosk as you will need to provide your exemption number.  So, in review, you will always return your blue and white renewal card, but once you have your permanent plastic exemption card, all you need to do is tuck it in to your wallet and it will be good as long as you have your exemption based in Elko County.  Have any exemption holders moved since last May?  If so, be sure you let us know your new mailing address so that we can update our records so that you will receive your renewal card and the new permanent exemption card.

Exemption Renewal Cards

Just a reminder to all of you who are participating in our exemption program. We have just mailed out the blue and white cards which should be returned to our office by June 15th. You should expect to see them in your mail box soon. This card, when filled out and signed by the person who has the exemption, lets us know how you want to use your exemption. If it is the same as last year, just check that box, sign the card and date it and return it to this office. If you wish to use it the exemption differently, and you have any questions, give us a call at your convenience and we will be happy to help you change the manner in which it is used.
